How It Works: The Budget Process in Loudoun County, Virginia
County departments submit their budget requests to the County Budget Office. During the submission period, departments also prepare Tiered lists of possible reductions, which are reviewed by County Administration and functional group committees. After incorporating the budget information, the County Administrator formally presents a proposed budget to the Board of Supervisors. The Board organizes public hearings, committee meetings and budget worksessions to review and revise the Proposed Fiscal Plan. After completing its review process, the Board of Supervisors adopts the County Adopted Fiscal Plan.
